McIntyre Surname of North and South Carolina

Researching further into the McIntyre name starting with Garfield McIntyre, the spouse to Bertha S. Thompson, parents of Bertha Lil Mcintyre, Anthony's Grandmother. Garfield's daddy's name was Calvin Mcintyre. (the 1900 US Federal Census spells it Mcintire) and his mother was Dianna, surname unknown. Calvin and Dianna had the following children: Liler, Analigo, Garfield (himself), Jasper, Luther, Sherman, Alexander, and Thomas. Dianna (mother) actually had 12 children, 8 survived. She was born in May 1860, in South Carolina. They married in 1882.

Calvin McIntyre's fathers name was David McIntyre and his mother's name was Ann (surname unknown). David was born abt 1840 in South Carolina and on the 1870 US Federal Census was living in Williamsons, Richmond, North Carolina. David and Ann had the following children, (as of 1870): Crawford, Calvin, Noah, and Lewis. They also had listed as living with them in 1870 a Harriet Pitkin, age 14, relationship unknown. According to the census, David was a farm laborer, he could read, but not write. On the census box 19 was checked indicated either Deaf, mute, or insane. Not sure what that is all about. No other research thus far indicates this. David was listed in the 1860 Slave Census in Marion, Marion County, South Carolina. Apparently a large slave owner S.E McIntyre owned 95 slaves, hence as common took the name of this owner.  No other research to date has followed.
